Pushlocal was founded by Zach Jex—lawyer, business professional, and app developer—and Brent Bourland. The company developed out of its founders’ shared interest in seeing communities respond to local news and businesses. Today, Pushlocal allows businesses to compete with the major marketing campaigns employed by commercial companies and mainstream businesses. Local businesses and organizations use the mobile platform to connect directly with customers. Pushlocal distinguishes itself from similar start-ups by taking a step beyond providing special offers at local shops, promoting civic organizations and government events as well. Pushlocal, praised for its direct and accurate promotions, has a presence in more than 25 cities, including San Diego, Baltimore, and Austin.
